Located in Eastern Jackson Ward along the 2nd/3rd Street corridor adjacent to the Convention Center, The 212 is 12 residential units and 5 commercial spaces at street level. The project was developed by Walker Row Partnership (Ron Stallings) and designed by local architect Burt Pinnoch of BAM Architects.
The design of the units were far more traditional than the competitive products coming to market and featured formal finishes and formal layouts.
The 212 is popular with the Medical School crowd as it is one of the closest projects to the campus. It is relatively affordable and has some good upside as the neighborhood is increasingly being developed on all sides. The Jackson Commons project, The Hippodrome, the Richmond Convention Center, all of the BioTech Park and several renovations along Historic Broad Street are changing the feel of the eastern sections of Jackson Ward.
Things to keep in mind when looking at property at The 212:
- The parking is dedicated but not secured and is leased by the association, not owned.
- There are no balconies or roof decks
- The property has tax abatement
- The location is almost equidistant from both VCU Medical School and the Monroe Park campus
